Recent activities in PE

Third grade has been having fun in PE and improving on some skills.  Recently, the girls jumped rope in different ways with a partner.  Currently, the girls are working on their rolling and bowling skills.  Strikes and spares get a loud cheer!

The World of Weather

 Hello From the Science Center!

Ever wonder why hot air rises and cold air sinks? We did in third grade! Take a empty plastic bottle, cap it with a balloon, and heat up the air inside. How do I heat up the air inside? Simple, just put the bottle into some very warm water! Watch with amazement as the air expands, getting less dense, and filling up the balloon.  Here you can see some third graders enjoying this phenomenon. Who doesn't enjoy watching a balloon fill up because of science!  Just as awesome is then placing you bottle into a bucket of ice water- the balloon shrivels up and starts to invert into the bottle.

Later on we modeled the molecules inside the bottle to better understand just what exactly is happening. No better way to see it than to do it.

All the best from the science room,
Mr. Robinson
